Highway 33 from Highway 97 to Gerstmar Road is now open following a serious crash this morning that sent four people to hospital.

The vehicle was observed driving at a high rate of speed down Highway 33 shortly after 3 a.m. before crossing into oncoming traffic and hitting a wall.
Three people were ejected from the vehicle. They were sent to hospital along with the driver. Their condition is not known.
RCMP had the road closed off this morning to investigate the crash.

Four persons are in hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries after a devastating crash in Kelowna.
It happened shortly after 3 a.m. today, when a member of the Kelowna RCMP noticed the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed along Hwy 33.
The officer turned around and continued to observe the vehicle and its erratic movements, before it ultimately crossed into oncoming lanes and struck a wall.
The three people were ejected from the vehicle and the officer immediately called for assistance.
All three, along with the driver, were transported to hospital, but no others were hurt in the accident.
The scene was closed off and the highway remains closed in both directions as the Kelowna Municipal Traffic Services was called in to investigate the crash.
It’s unknown at this time how long the road will be closed.
The Independent Investigation Office of BC has also been notified to determine whether the actions of the officer had anything to do with the crash.
