KelownaNow's guide to the weekend (July 28-30)

Attend some of the Okanagan’s music and arts events this weekend, from tattoo conventions to local music festivals! You might find that you want to learn a new skill like foraging for mushrooms, or be left speechless by the illusions of a mentalist.

Friday, July 28

Dream: A Fleetwood Mac Tribute

Relive the hits of Fleetwood Mac with the tribute act Dreams, who will be performing the 70s band’s most famous hits including ‘Dreams’, ‘Go Your Own Way’ and 'The Chain.’ The shows will run all weekend and you can find tickets here.

Time: 6pm-9:30pm

Mentalist Ryan Edwards at Freddy’s

Be amazed at the illusions and tricks performed by mentalist Ryan Edwards at this family friendly show for all ages. Held at Freddy’s Brewpub, he is considered to be Canada’s top mentalist and has spent 20 years perfecting his craft. More info here.

Saturday, July 29

The 9th Okanagan Tattoo Show

Get inked or just enjoy the show at the 9th Okanagan Tattoo Show this weekend! With over 100 artists, there will be tattoo styles to suit every taste as well as entertainment and other vendors. The show runs from Friday to Sunday. More info here.

Time: Friday 4pm-11pm / Saturday 12pm-11pm / Sunday 12pm-6pm
Price: $30 per day


Truss the Process 2023

Party at this free music festival organised by the West Coast Truss company and featuring headliner Bhangra artist Jazzy B. Last year, 2000 people attended and this year is hoping for a similar turn out! More info here.

Kelowna Rocks and Gems Birthday

Watch some geodes, rocks and gems shine in this celebration of local store Kelowna Rocks and Gems after its opening 1 year ago. You can expect prizes and giveaways on the day and some interesting demonstrations! More info here.

Carr’s Landing Art Tour 2023

Enjoy an intimate look inside the homes and studios of local artists at this bi-annual weekend event. The tour is free, self-guided, and any art you find will be available for purchase. Just follow the map to see everything on offer! More info here.

Dad Jokes Comedy

Receive some fatherly advice and some terribly good dad jokes at this event which showcases comedians as they tell the funny side of parenting. You can also experience the style of dad jokes we’ve all come to love with some hilarious one liners. More info here.

Family Visual Arts Day

Take part in this Summer of Arts event that runs every Saturday at the Rotary Arts Centre. For ages 5-18 years old, there will be a free 30 minute art activity to take part in led by three local artists. More info here.

Sunday, July 30

Forest to Fork: Foraging Class

Gather your own edible mushrooms and plants on this guided foraging tour and class with chef Bernard Casavant. After a short break, take your findings back to Lakehouse Kitchens for a cooking class with what you’ve found! Tickets here.

Time: 10am-1:30pm
Price: $250 per person / $450 per couple


Salt Crystal Cave Sound Bath

Listen to the sounds of quartz crystal in this sound healing class in a salt cave. These sounds promote relaxation and put you into a meditative calming state. Located at Room and Pillar Spa, you will also leave with a gift back for self-care. More info here.
