Nearly 1,000 people will be fed Thanksgiving dinner at the Kelowna Gospel Mission today

Nobody is going to leave the Kelowna Gospel Mission hungry today.

A large group of staff and volunteers have been working hard to prepare enough food for what can only be described as a giant Thanksgiving dinner today.

In total, 900 people will be served a meal of turkey, ham and all their other Thanksgiving favourites between noon and 6 pm.

“The people we see day to day are living under challenging circumstances,” said Randy Benson, the Gospel Mission’s executive director.

“They are living in poverty and often call Kelowna’s Gospel Mission their home. When we celebrate Thanksgiving with a turkey dinner, our volunteers go the extra mile to give it a homey and special feeling.

Councillor Loyal Wooldridge, MP Dan Albas, MLA Steve Thomson, MP Stephen Fuhr and Conservative candidate Tracy Gray will all be on hand to help serve meals.
