Kelowna RCMP arrest wanted man found driving stolen pickup

A wanted man has been arrested after being stopped while driving a stolen car in Kelowna, police said.

Mounties said they were told about the theft of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup from the 400 block of Rutland Road South at around 5 pm on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, an RCMP officer spotted the vehicle being driven in Rutland.

More officers were then sent to the scene, resulting in the truck being found in a parking lot on Hwy 33.

Both occupants were arrested for possession of stolen property.

Police added: “During the arrest it was determined that the alleged driver, a 38-year-old Kelowna man, was also prohibited from driving a motor vehicle and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

“He is being held in custody to appear before the court and the matter has been forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for charge approval.”

Anyone with more information about the incident is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
