Kelowna Stands With Ukraine fundraising concert happening tonight
It will be a wonderful night of music at the Rotary Centre for the Arts tonight.
The downtown Kelowna venue is hosting a fundraising concert that’s being put on by the Kelowna Stands With Ukraine (KSWU) association.
Ukrainian virtuoso violinist Vasyl Popadiuk will be performing inside the Mary Irwin Theatre, with the show set to begin at 7 pm.
A release from KSWU describes Popadiuk’s music as “Gypsy World Fusion” with classical, jazz, latin and pop undertones.
Before he takes the stage, the concert will kick off with an exciting showcase of Ukrainian dances performed by Dolyna.
Tickets for the show are still available through the Rotary Centre website, with all proceeds going to support Ukraine.
Half will be donated to a rehabilitation program for Ukrainian children that were liberated from Russian captivity, while the other half will help deliver medical supplies.
“This special event is dedicated to raising crucial funds, with the aim of making a significant difference in rebuilding the lives of Ukrainian children who have endured the harrowing ordeal of abduction by Russian forces and have only recently been reunited with their homeland, deeply scarred by the ravages of war,” says a note from organizers.
In addition to money raised through ticket sales, there will also be an auction for unique artifacts from Ukraine, while other smaller souvenirs and artifacts will be for sale.
