Donating blood even once is a very noble thing to do.
Donating blood 200 times is an incredible, selfless achievement that certainly deserves a bit of public recognition.
On Tuesday, Peter Teschner will make his 200th blood donation at Canadian Blood Services (CBS) on Dilworth Drive in Kelowna.
Teschner, who owns Cherry Lane Homes Ltd., has been regularly donating blood for more than three decades.
He gives every 56 days, which is the minimum amount of time between donations, which means six donations per year for 33 years.
“Peter is dedicated to donating blood because it was a way of helping others, giving back to the community and saving lives,” explained a press release from CBS.
“He was motivated because he could be doing something useful rather than being a bystander. He thinks this is a vital service and encourages others to help others in their time of need through donating blood.”
Teschner will continue to give blood every 56 days after his 200th donation, but he’ll soon be able to make an even bigger impact.
A new clinic will open in Kelowna next month that will allow people to make plasma donations every 28 days, which is something Teschner plans to do.
