A local hot spot has been put in the running for best caesar in the country.
The Train Station Pub in Kelowna has cracked one of 10 spots in Motts Canada’s Best Caesar in Town competition.
Based in downtown Kelowna, the building is an old station used on the train line that used to run through Kelowna.
“Our caesar has been inspired by the local community and the running station theme we uphold in our restaurant,” explained Train Station staff.
“The Station Caesar holds a couple of the usual suspects you find in a caesar. Worcestershire sauce, Mott’s Clamato and vodka, however in our Station Caesar we also include chilli pickle juice.”
It’s also rimmed with smoked apple wood and garnished with a skewered pickled ribbon, pepperoncini, spicy bean and a pepperoni stick.
With over a month left, the winner with the most votes will take home the grand prize of $25,000, or the $15,000 and $10,000 runner-up prizes of the Best Caesar In Town.
Kelowna isn’t the only British Columbia restaurant to be in the running, in fact, three local restaurants have also been placed in the contest.
The Station Pub in Invermere and My Pub in Coquitlam are also fighting for a top spot in the nationwide competition.
People will be able to submit their votes until Sept. 5, 2022, with the winner being announced in an online ceremony on Sept. 28.
The Train Station Pub staff added: “If we win the $25,000, it will go towards employee training to improve our skills to elevate passengers' dining experience.”
