After examining the scene of the Lake Country fire, which broke out Saturday, August 12th, investigators believe the fire to be human caused, but not deliberately set.
The fire is being considered accidental in nature, therefore the matter is not being investigated as a criminal arson case.
"The Lake Country RCMP wish to thank the general public, motorists and especially those Lake Country residents who were directly impacted by the immediate tactical evacuations of their homes," says Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.
"It was the rapid response of all emergency crews and stellar fire fighting efforts of the Lake Country Fire Department and support of the BC Wildfire Service, which brought this blaze under control without injuries or loss of life."
The fire broke out along Highway 97 in Lake Country close to the Lodge Road intersection.
Two fire crews along with helicopters responded and were able to douse the blaze before it became serious. Although the fire did leave behind a blackened landscape along a lengthy stretch of Highway 97.
