Local tattoo shop inviting people to share their cringe-worthy tattoos for a free cover up

Got a cringeworthy tattoo? This local shop is giving you the chance to get rid of it for free.

Dynamic Studios in Kelowna is running a contest this month for one four hour cover up session with one of their resident artists. The catch is you’re going to have to show off your ink on their Facebook page.

Their inviting people to share a photo of their most cringey tattoo in the comments, and whoever has the worst one will be able to say goodbye to a bad piece of ink in 2019.

“We were looking for a new fun way to let people know about our shop and our amazing artists. We also wanted to help someone feel better about themselves by covering up a regretful tattoo,” said Shaundra Polson, shop manager.

Polson says that the response to the contest has been great. It’s only been running a few days and it already has about 50 entries. They’ve done contests in the past, but Polson says that this is the first cover up contest in the shop’s history.

The contest is running until Jan. 31, 2019, and the winner will be announced on Feb. 1, 2019. The winner will have their tattoo covered up by resident artist Diego Chagall.

“Although our our shop has four wonderful artists we have chosen our newest addition Diego. Diego hails from Columbia and has won numerous awards,” explained Polson. “Our shop owner, Ryan Scarpino, met diego at the Panama tattoo expo a few years ago and he saw him take away eight different awards at the show so he invited him to come to the Vancouver Island Tattoo Expo in Victoria where he won another seven awards and took home best of show.”

“Ryan offered him a job to work at Dynamic Studios. He is now here for two years on a work Visa and plans to apply for Canada residency,” Polson added.
