A 28-year-old man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant could be in Kelowna, police have said.
Kemron Tevin Alexander is alleged to have been involved in the sex trafficking of a 12-year-old girl.
He faces 11 charges related to human trafficking and sexual assault.
Police in Alberta said Alexander is known to travel between Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, Vancouver and Kelowna.
They said he also has links to Ontario.
He is known to carry weapons and should not be approached, police said.
Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) released their appeal for information about Alexander’s whereabouts on June 16.
Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers, meanwhile, said a British Columbia-wide warrant for Alexander’s arrest has been in place since July 5.
“Our primary concern is supporting this child victim and exhausting every measure to ensure she is protected from her alleged perpetrator,” Staff Sgt. Frank Page, from ALERT, said.
“We need to get him in custody and we need the public’s help in locating him.”
Police said the child involved in the allegations has been given support and returned to her mother.
They added that their investigation began in May and involved the assistance of Mounties in Kelowna and elsewhere.
The full list of charges against Alexander are:
Trafficking a person under the age of 18;
Procuring a person under the age of 18;
Sexual exploitation;
Arrangement for sexual offence against a child;
Obtaining sexual services for consideration;
Material benefit from sex trafficking;
Advertisement of sexual services;
Overcoming resistance to commission of offence;
Sexual assault;
Sexual interference; and
Invitation to sexual touching.
