Man with outstanding warrants caught breaking into Kelowna condo during curfew hours

A man was caught red-handed trying to break into a Kelowna condo building today.

He was in violation of a number of conditions of his release order, police said.

Two officers spotted the man early this morning using tools to try and break into the condo building in the block of Leon Avenue downtown.

He was arrested immediately for break and enter before quickly being identified as someone who was breaking their release order.

The RCMP said he has six outstanding warrants out for his arrest and is meant to be on a curfew between the hours of 8 pm and 7 am.

In addition, he is not supposed to have break-and-enter tools in his possession.

“We applaud the officers who were able to make an arrest after their proactive police work,” noted Cst. Mike Della-Paolera.

The man is being held in custody while he waits to appear in court.
