VIDEO: Local boutique offers free help dressing for success

The Dress For Success Boutique is a non-profit organization that offers complementary styling services to women that need help returning to the workplace, and are launching a professional women's group this November.

Executive Director, Dominique Lennox, told KelownaNow that she has brought together a team of mentors, facilitators, and employment coaches that can offer in-person or online services this winter.

“We’ll do things like financial literacy, self-development, giving them developmental tools to thrive in their workspace and their careers,” says Lennox.

While the boutique is celebrating its second year in Kelowna, they have helped over 150 women return to work by providing them with mentorship and professional attire suitable for their career.

Many of the clients coming into the Dress For Success Boutique are referral based from community partnerships with KCR Work BC, NowCanada and Hope Outreach, but people can also apply for assistance online.

“They come to us by appointment only and we offer customized service to them in dressing them for success within whatever job they are going into,” Lennox explains.

“We’ve actually had women come to us as young as 15 as much as 65. Everyone needs some help, and our doors are always open."

While the shop offers these free services to individuals in the community, they rely on community support to help provide clothing donations.

“We’re so grateful for that, as you can see we’ve got a lot of stocks, we’ve got something for everybody that comes to us,” added Lennox.

The Dress For Success Boutique program will provide the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

“We’re the 13th of the affiliates, we’re actually the newest one in BC. But we actually have 150 affiliates globally within 25 different countries.”

Dress for Success is accepting both donations and volunteers at their location on 1771 Cooper road.
