Okanagan College announced on Wednesday that Halia Valladares Montemayor will be taking over the role of dean of science and technology starting July 1.
Montemayor comes to OC with an experienced resumé in post-secondary administration, as she is a former dean of Capilano University, and most recently, was the academic dean at Quest University.
“This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the OC mission to transform lives and communities, and to inspire and empower students, staff and the community through science and technology,” said Montemayor.
She also has a plethora of experience as a business professional, as she served as a director on the Board of West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and is a managing partner at Global Trading and DS, Inc.
Montemayor also has a doctoral degree in economics and business administration from Burgos University in Spain and has authored more than 20 research publications.
Andrew Hay, provost and vice president academic, welcomed the new dean by saying, “We are looking forward to welcoming Halia to Okanagan College and having her join our exceptional team in science and technology.”
