It’s been just over a year since Bad Tattoo Pizzeria opened in Kelowna and now the owners are looking to expand their services.
The restaurant opened in July 2021 and is the sister location to Penticton’s successful Bad Tattoo Brewing, a local staple that serves up a variety of beers and pizzas.
However, the Kelowna location operates as a food primary business, which means they can sell liquor on-site when food is being served.
But now the owners are looking to turn the Kelowna location into a brewery.
With a lounge endorsement people would be able to drop in for one of their signature brews which would be made on-site.
City staff are recommending that council support the request which would be sent to the Provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch.
There would be no change to hours of operation or capacity, which is currently 157 people.
City staff do not anticipate any increase in sound and add that it is not near any other large liquor primary businesses.
“This location will manufacture small batch seasonal beers and provide off-sales from the retail store endorsement,” explains a letter of intent from Lee Agur of Bad Tattoo.
“The current location’s food and beverage offerings has proven to be very popular with local neighbourhood residents and with the final completion of our small batch brew system, our vision for this location will be complete.”
Kelowna City Council will review this application during the Tuesday meeting scheduled for Aug. 9 at 7 pm.
