The strong winds rushing through the Okanagan Valley Friday evening are creating heavy waves along the Okanagan Lake foreshore.
The flood protection measures installed at Rotary Beach along Lakeshore are taking a heavy beating from the strong waves and have even broken in some places according to reports.
"When I got to where the beach used to be I noticed a pretty large gap where some of the sand barricades appear to be missing, a few of them had been knocked over and washed out and the rest looked like the had taken quite the beating," said Savannah Bagshaw.
"A lot of debris is washing up along the edge of the water too and it's really smashing into the barricades."
