There’s just a few days left for residents to share their thoughts on the future of Kelowna's urban forest.
The city is looking for public input as it shapes a Sustainable Urban Forest Strategy.
In a news release, the city says the public is invited to share their perspectives and thoughts on priority areas for trees and how to best support and protect the city’s forests.
“The updated strategy will include a renewed vision reflective of our community’s voice, a plan of action, and forest management strategies,” says Tara Bergeson, urban forester.
“It will build upon the work done over the last decade as part of the 2011 Urban Forest Strategy and identify management targets for the next ten years on both public and private land in rural and urban Kelowna.”
Kelowna’s urban forest, which include trees, forests, plants and various ecosystems, is an important part of the city’s character, livability, biodiversity and climate resilience, adds the news release.
Last month, the city said planning, guiding and managing Kelowna’s urban forest will ensure its long-term health and survival.
The survey, which is available here, closes on Sunday.
