RCMP investigating suspicious grass fire in Kelowna

A grass fire in Kelowna last night is being investigated by the RCMP.

Police assisted the Kelowna Fire Department after they were called at about 9 pm to the slope behind the 500 block of Long Ridge Drive.

The fire was rapidly put out by firefighters.

“RCMP has initiated an investigation and a RCMP fire investigator has examined the scene,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said.

“We believe this fire was human-caused and we are actively investigating.”

She added: “Thankfully it was extinguished quickly, and no one was injured. We are now appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact us.”

Anyone with information is urged to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.

Alternatively, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or head to crimestoppers.net
