There is still time to donate, folks! The United Way of Central and South Okanagan/Similkameen (CSO) is nearing the close of their annual fundraising campaign.
United Way CSO wants to remind people that it’s not too late to donate with their fiscal year ending Jan. 31, 2018.
Progress is good this year but they urgently need help meeting the growing needs of the community. The annual goal final tally will be announced once all national campaign reports are in.
With 1 in 5 children living in poverty, a growing homelessness crisis, and nearly 50% of families in our community only two pay-cheques away from losing their home or car, United Way CSO continues to address these issues and the root causes of poverty and homelessness that contribute to the disparity.
“No matter how small, your donation matters,” said Helen Jackman, Executive Director of United Way CSO.
“Last year, our funds were oversubscribed by around 50%. Every cent raised locally stays right here in the Okanagan. Help us meet the very real needs right here on our doorstep,” added Jackman.
Last year, the United Way invested over $1.4M with over 40 agencies in our region in three focus areas supporting vulnerable kids, youth, families and seniors.
