The fourth annual Wine for K9s is returning for another year

Paws it Forward Dog Rescue has developed a fundraiser meant to entice dog-lovers and wine-lovers alike: the fourth annual Wine for K9’s, a night of wine, music and prizes.

"It basically just sprung from another one that we had started five years ago and it was called Pawsitive night,” said Shanna Kean, the Wine for K9s Event Coordinator.

“We just wanted to do a silent auction at an event where people can come eat and have wine and just enjoy themselves while supporting the rescue . . . we got really good feedback and it just sort of morphed into wine for K9s."

The largest of Paws it Forward’s events, Wine for K9's, is scheduled for the Laurel Packinghouse on Thursday, June 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. with tickets priced at $40 per person.

You can look forward to wine-by-the-glass, live music, door prizes, a photo booth and mingling with other dog-loving patrons.

Over the last three years, the fundraiser has raised nearly $40,000 to support Paws it Forward Dog Rescue’s foster program and assist in subsidizing veterinarian bills for their rescued pups.

This year, Kean said that the organization is hoping to raise $20,000.

Although the dog presence will be limited due to the formal nature of the event, patrons can take photos with Paws it Forward alumni dogs and dogs joining from the foster care program.

“We have them outside of the event and we have something called 'the green carpet,' our version of the red carpet,” explains Kean.

“Guests coming to our event [can] stop at the green carpet [and] get a photo with one of the dogs in front of our media wall.”

All guests will also receive a swag bag full of donated gear for themselves and their beloved, four-legged friends before leaving the event.
