VIDEO: Kelowna artist celebrates sobriety with song release

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, one Kelowna artist has taken the past year to focus on his craft and self journey.

Quinn McGraw, better known under his artist name Mylo Quinn, pushed out of his comfort zone of creating heavy metal, dubstep and other production to create a more meaningful and edgy, alternative EP that showcased a side of himself that was never expressed in his music previously.

On his journey, he found sobriety and incorporated that into his newest project. The first single off the EP, ‘Drift’ was released this afternoon and will highlight the importance of recovery.

“Today it’s a good day, the song is out and the video is out. I wrote the song last year, so it's nice to finally have it out there in the open and today is also the one year anniversary of quitting drinking. All in all, it’s a pretty sweet day,” said McGraw.

The EP ‘Light’, is focused on the battles of substance abuse and how it’s never too late to become the better version of yourself.

“Writing this EP was a big turning point that allowed me to process and finally start down the road of recovery. Each song serves as a different stage of the process, starting from turning to a vice and drifting away from everything (pun completely intended), and in the end actually breaking the cycle entirely.”

“The song titles in order are intentionally Vice, Drift, Light, Love, and finally Cycle - it's all just a reflection of starting at the bottom, picking yourself up again, learning to love yourself (flaws and all), and ultimately breaking the habit,” he said.

Another single is set to be released in January 2022, and the entire album is set to come out in March.
