YMCA of Okanagan joins initiative to help youth with anxiety in BC

The Okanagan YMCA is joining the British Columbia’s YMCA Y Mind initiative to help young adults manage stress, worries and anxiety.

The BC Government has provided $3 million worth of funding for the initiative.

This initiative plans to expand to five regions across the province which will allow more young individuals to learn management strategies when it comes to dealing with stress and anxiety.

All programs are evidence based and led by trained mental health professionals.

“Y Mind will give young adults the tools to be able to cope with the stressors that are going on in life right now,” explains Y Mind Manager, Jan Locke. “So many individuals today feel the environment and world they live in creates anxiety and it can be extremely overwhelming. This program will help to take away the isolation and debilitation of anxiety.”
