Kelowna Aquajets win regional championships, come 8th at provincials

Kelowna Aquajets had 55 swimmers represent the club at the meet held in Salmon Arm. The swimmers swam to an impressive 263 best times and a lot of bling as well as the take home trophy for top spot!!!

There were plenty of swimmers taking home bling and making it to the podium and they were Tobias Allot, Jackson Bartlett, Madison Bell, Emma Berg, Jacob Berg, Kaylee Buckmaster, Brock Campbell, Lexi Falkingham, Lauren Griffin-Lepine, Maura Guidi, Emma Hawkins, Andrew Hwang, Rilo Kehler, Ruby Kehler, Danica Kelly, Justin Kim, Finn Kirk, Mei-viz Lou, Ava Mailey, Jenna Marbus, Jordan Meyer, Gage Meyers, Ashley Moore, Sarah Moore, Isla O’Connor, Joshua Perkins, Kapri Pike, Caden Roddekopp, Nica Robertson, Emelia Schwarz, Kyden Slozka, Mattias Spies, Cameron Yakimchuk and Joshua Yoon.

Swimmers who swam to 100% best times were Pailey Hajek-Sentes, Kyden Slozka, Sam Vandenberg, Danica Kelly, Liam Shannon, Mitchell Bamford, Averie Friberg, Jacob Berg, Maura Guidi, Justin Kim, Mei-viz Lou, Maya McLaren, Jordan Meyer, Isla O’Connor, Joshua Perkins, Kapri Pike, Nica Robertson, Natalia Slezak, Mattias Spies, Alice Walters and Mati Walters. Those swimmers who one shy of 100% times were Joshua Yoon, Gage Meyers, Oliver Meyers, Finn Kirk, Rilo Kehler, Annnaleigha Jesson and Tobias Allott.

Big time drops of ten seconds or more were had by Tobias Allott, Jackson Bartlett, Kaylee Buckmaster, Benjamin Garwah, Maura Guidi, Pailey Hajek-Sentes, Emma Hawkins, Andrew Hwang, Annnaleigha Jesson, Rilo Kehler, Ruby Kehler, Danica Kelly, Justin Kim, Mei-viz Lou, Ava Mailey, Jenna Marbus, Joshua Perkins, Caden Reddekopp, Liam Shannon, Natalia Slezak, Kyden Slozka, Mattias Spies, Sam Vandenberg, Cameron Yakimchuk and Joshua Yoon.

Swimming to new Age Group Provincial times were Justin Kim and Joshua Yoon.

At the Winter Provincials in Victoria, Kelowna Aquajets had 30 swimmers represent the club. The swimmers swam to 100 best times and an 8th place finishes out of 42 teams.

Para swimmer Cameron Chambers had the top point for the males swimming to (3) GOLD medals 100 fly, 100 free & 200 IM and (3) SILVER medals in 50 free, 100 back & 200 free while Para swimmer Patrick Waters swam to GOLD in the 100 breast. Meagan Corrigan was the high points winner for the females swimming to (2) GOLD medals in the 100 & 200 breast respectively. The 15&Over girls MEDLEY relay consisting of Rachel McInnes (back), Erin Epp (breast), Kelsey Fillion (fly) and Ava Toyata (free) swam to a BRONZE place finish!

Those swimmers achieving 100% best time were Sarah Courtenay, Kassua Dreyer, Sara Gray, Anna Kulina, Isla O'Connor, Kaleigh Reese, Avery Simpson and Para swimmer Patrick Waters. Those swimmers who were one shy of 100% were Clara Dickieson, Madi Fourie, Ethan Gray, Abigail Jerome and Abigail Nicholson.

Big time drops of ten seconds or more were had by Sara Gray dropping 17 seconds in the 200 fly and 26 in 400 IM. Madi Fourie who shaved 11 seconds off her 400 free and Kodi Wiman took off 16 seconds in her 800 free.

Swimming to Canadian Olympic Trial times were Erin Epp, Kelly Fillion, Cameron Chambers, Meagan Corrigan, Nathaiel Hees and Patrick Waters.

New Canadian Junior National qualifier was Daniil Savelev.

New Western Canadian qualifiers were Rachel McInnes, Anna Kulina and Sara Gray.

Other strong swims to some best times were had by Liam Collie, Paul Neupert, Jacklyn Pengilly, Madison Penney and Ava Toyata.

Upcoming National meets will be the Canadian Olympic Trials with Erin Epp, Meagan Corrigan, Cameron Chambers, Kelsey Fillion and Patrick Waters attending and then a couple weeks later KAJ will attend the Western Canadian Championships with Meagan Corrigan, Erin Epp, Kelsey Fillion, Nathaniel Hees, Abigail Jerome, Rachel McInnes, Paul Neupert, Jacklyn Pengilly, Pierson Piche, Daniil Savelev, Ava Toyata and Kodi Wiman representing the club.
