Kelowna springboard divers earn top scores at Kamloops meet

The Kelowna Springboard Diving Club (KSDC) brought home several awards after competing at the Kamloops Fiesta Dive Meet 2023 this past weekend.

Among the 26 Kelowna athletes were three Masters divers, eight Novice Competitive divers and 15 Learn to Dive competitors.

“The KSDC coaches couldn’t be more proud of our athletes’ performance over the weekend,” said Christina Unger, the head coach.

Each of the Masters athletes earned top scores.

Anna Ruckstuhl won the Females 18-49 year old category, and Darwin Pulver and Wayne Rumsey came in first and second in the Men’s 50+ category, respectively.

For the Novice Competitive athletes, Regina Larios Sanchez performed the best out of Kelowna’s Girls Group D divers, walking away with sixth place on one-metre with a score of 153.25 and fifth place on three-metre with a score of 145.90.

Ryan Shoene stood out for the Boys Group D, winning this three-metre event with a score of 126.30 and coming in second place on one-metre with a score of 127.35.

Winning both her one-metre and three-metre events for the Girls Group C, Presley Furby earned a score of 231.60 and 185.00, respectively.

Also in the one-metre for the Girls Group C, Gabrielle Burge received a score of 224.60.

The KSDC Learn to Dive athletes also won first place the following events:

  • Learn to Dive Combined one and three metre Girls Group F
  • Learn to Dive Combined one and three metre Girls Group D
  • Learn to Dive Combined one and three metre Boys Group D
  • Learn to Dive Combined one and three metre Boys Group C
  • Learn to Dive Combined one and three metre Boys Group B

In addition, they placed second in the following events:

  • Learn to Dive Combined one and three metre Girls Group E
  • Learn to Dive Combined one and three metre Girls Group C
  • Learn to Dive Combined one and three metre Girls Group B
