Last Wednesday night in Cincinnati, the Vancouver Whitecaps were behind the Cincinnati FC 2-1 when halftime rang.
It was then when Vancouver subbed in backup goalkeeper Isaac Boehmer, as their starter Cody Cropper suffered a head injury late in the first.
Boehmer, at just 20-years-old, had been dreaming of this moment for years, after growing up in the small community of Okanagan Falls.
His second-half performance was perfect, stopping all three shots he faced, as Vancouver nabbed a late equalizer to leave Cincinnati with a draw.

Boehmer promptly started the next match, four days later, against the Portland Timbers. He was stellar again, giving up just one goal.

The impressive game and a half led the MLS to name Boehmer to its team of the week.
Well deserved Isaac! 👏

On the heels of his first ever MLS debut & start this past week, @IsaacBoehmer123 was named to @MLS Team of the Week! #VWFC | #TOTW
Boehmer was born in Okanagan Falls, but spent his youth football career with the Penticton Pinnacles. He also had a brief training stint in Germany, for the FC Schalke's 04 youth academy.
He has slowly worked his way up the professional soccer ladder, spending time in the CPL with Pacific, before being thrust into action with the Whitecaps this year.
“Isaac was monumental,” Whitecaps Head Coach Vanni Sartini said. “It’s not only the big saves but for a kid who’s never played in the MLS to be thrown in the middle of this game with a lot of fans can be overwhelming. We know Isaac is a cool cat and he maintained his composure.”
The next game for the Whitecaps is Saturday, July 23 against the Chicago Fire, where Boehmer will look to continue his hot stretch.
