Aaron Goodvin ready to create memorable moments with Penticton and the Rascal Flatts

Penticton will be in for a night to remember as country music legends the Rascal Flatts will conquer the South Okanagan Events Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The act behind hits such as “I Melt,” “What Hurts the Most” and a popular cover of Canadian anthem “Life is a Highway” have been on the road since May, hitting up festival mainstages and arenas across the globe.

Accompanying the band will be award-winning songwriter and Canadian country artist Aaron Goodvin, who was last in the Okanagan region in 2018 supporting Gord Bamford.

Not only is the show’s lineup a dream come true for country music lovers, but it is for Goodvin too as he grew up listening to the Rascal Flatts in his hometown of Spirit River, AB.

“It is pretty crazy that I’ll get to be there with them,” said Goodvin. “I have been in this business for a very long time and these are the kind of moments you dream about, It is a little bit surreal.”

Goodvin and his band have had quite the summer of touring playing everything from main stages at festivals to headlining theatres across North America.

For the last several years Goodvin has been living in Nashville, Tennessee, and having the chance to come back to Canada to perform is “the greatest thing in the world” to him.

“It is a necessity for me to live in Nashville for my work, but every time I go back to Canada, it's like coming home to visit family,” he said. “It is like Christmas every time and I am always blown away.”

With just two weeks left before joining the Rascal Flatts on a six-show run, Goodvin and the band are hard at work putting together a performance that will both appease long-time fans and help create new ones.

“I have a really good idea for an outline of what we are going to do and play, as well as a few surprises planned,” said Goodvin.

“Anytime we get on stage we try to create as many moments as possible that people will remember forever, I love to talk to the audience and just be able to connect.”

Those in the audience on October 30th can expect a 45-minute showcase of Goodvin’s best hits like “Lonely Drum,” and “Miss Me Yet,” in addition to a few of his favourite tracks from his heartfelt sophomore album V.

“We want to play the songs that fans want to hear but it is always cool to play songs off the record that maybe no one has heard yet,” he said.

“45 minutes is what we have to play all of those songs but to also make an impact. No two of our shows are ever the same and it’s hard to do but we like to do things a little differently.”

Tickets to the show are still available for purchase through the ValleyFirst Tix website. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity to see some of country’s most relevant and popular acts in the flesh!
