Get ready Okanagan music fans (specifically those of you who love the distorted and fuzz-stricken sounds of psych-rock) because "Tune It Down, Turn It Up" is ramping up for its sophomore year.
Kelowna’s only music festival dedicated to all things psych, stoner and fuzz rock, will return on Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24.
This year the fest will bring forward an impressive 15 acts all of which hail from British Columbia.
Local acts include A Cosmic Microwave Pickle, High Horse, SweetBeast, Pharm, Tidal Baby, Psycherelics, Not Even Noon and others, with out of town favourites such as Charles Mansion and Highland Eyeway also on board.
This year the festival will sprawl throughout the downtown core. Music will begin at 7 pm on Friday night at both Muninn’s Post and directly across the street at 702 Bernard Ave., carrying on until 1 am.
Don’t worry though, staggered set times will ensure that you can catch all the acts your heart desires.
Saturday will see the fest travel to a secret outdoor venue, the location of which will not be announced until the end of the performances on Friday night.
Once the location is ready to be revealed, attendees will receive a treasure map to help them navigate town and seek out the speak-easy-inspired venue.
Wristbands that include access to both venues and a map to the secret show will be available for $25, while the purchase of a map for the mystery show on its own is just $10.
All of the proceeds from wristband and map sales will go directly to the musicians, so don't spoil the fun and try to solve the mystery on your own — support the arts and join in on the hunt!
Early bird wristbands have yet to be released through the event’s website, but for now, you can look forward to securing yours at the door of either venue next weekend.
