RCMP say a couple found dead in their home last week in Enderby died as a result of a murder-suicide.
Police and the BC Coroners Service have been investigating the deaths since they were first reported November 18th, after the couple was found dead inside a private residence on the Splatsin First Nations Reserve.
In a statement released today, RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk confirmed that the deaths were the result of “a domestic relationship murder-suicide.”
They believe the man murdered the woman before killing himself.
He said investigators found a “single firearm” during an examination of the scene, and determined there is no evidence pointing to anyone else being involved.
The police don’t plan to make any arrests in connection with the case.
The 46-year-old man and 69-year-old woman were married, and the only people in the home when they died. Moskaluk said they were found by family members who went to check up on them after the man didn’t show up for work.
The Southeast District Major Crime Unit continues to investigate what Moskaluk called “the murder of the female victim,” and is helping the BC Coroners Service with “the non-criminal death investigation of the male subject.”
