Axe-throwing, wakeboarding and celebrity meet-and-greets are standard at the ultimate youth expo, TeenFest, coming to Kelowna April 1st.
Hangout and see the latest smartphones and technology, check out interactive sports and gaming activities, get a free makeover, pose for a photo shoot and shop at a plethora of beauty and wellness booths. It’s all happening at the Kelowna Curling Club from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The one-day free expo is designed to showcase a range of interactive activities and gives teens the opportunity to explore interests related to health, hobbies and careers.
TeenFest Canada founder Ali Berman said the event is an opportunity for teens to explore new things and connect with old and new friends. Teens get to connect with their peers and community leaders to get inspired about their future.
There are four different areas to explore: Life and education; cool stuff; fashion and beauty; and health and wellness. Local post-secondary institutes MC College and the Centre for Arts and Technology will be onsite to explain to teens more about the programs they offer.
The event will also feature the Teen Talent Contest, open to youth aged 12 to 18. Contestants can upload a video showcasing their talent to YouTube and send the link to contest@teenfest.ca.
Talents can include singing, dancing, music, comedy or even pet performances. The finalists will perform live on April 1st at the Curling Club and the winner will take home a $250 VISA gift card.
