If you're like many other people in Kelowna, the weekend for you is all about enjoying the city at your own leisurely pace. Maybe you’ll head to a new to you local restaurant, support our small business owners or check out a fun community event. No matter what you may get up to, Kelowna always has something fun to do on your days off.
If you want to get out and about this weekend but aren't sure where to start, here is a list of great things we think you should check out on your weekend excursions.
What was once known as Tripke’s Bakery on Bernard is now 350 Bakehouse and Cafe. The new business has transformed the space into a fresh faced and bright area, ideal for enjoying delicious baked goods any day of the week.
Catch a local show
Vancouver band The Boom Booms will be taking over the Habitat on Friday night with local supporting act Maple Jordan. Tickets are $25 at the door and the show starts at 9:45 p.m.
Show your community support this weekend by heading to the south parking lot of Prospera Place at 10 a.m. this Saturday to cheer on the teams participating in the United Way Bus Pull. 10 teams will be hauling a BC Transit bus across the finish line in an effort to help the United Way raise funds for their programs.
Hit up the mall's newest addition
For those of you who aren’t the biggest fans of the heat, head to The Bay in Orchard Park Mall to check their newly opened Topshop sections. With unique and trendy items for both men and women, this new boutique is worth checking out.
Go to a trunk sale
For those of you who like to keep it local and are all about being frugal, the Regional Waste Reduction Office is hosting their semi-annual Trunk Sale on Saturday, May 27th at Okanagan College and it will be sales galore. Starting at 8 a.m. you can browse over 100 vendors displays of pre-loved items for your chance at finding a hidden gem for a killer deal.
Add to your collection
If you’ve been looking to add to that hockey card or comic book collection, the Kelowna Collectables Show will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday at the Sandman Hotel. From vintage comics to Lego and even jewelry, you can find just the piece you’re looking for at this event.
Take in some art
The Kelowna Art Gallery is hosting a new exhibition until June 25th title, The Big Picture. With extra large pieces of work hanging throughout the gallery space, this exhibition promises to be a treat for the eyes.
Take a day trip
If you had to miss out on the fun of Rutland May Days or simply want to go on more rides, Shooting Star Amusements will have their midway at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton this weekend with all the fun kicking off this Friday at 4 p.m.
