On Friday night the fifth annual Andre Blanleil Sr. Memorial Fastball Tournament kicked off at Kings Stadium.
Six teams from as far as Nanaimo will compete in this weekend-long Fastball Tournament that is held in honour of Andre Blanleil Sr.
Blanleil was a mover and shaker in our local fastball community, both as a player and a coach, and his family decided to host a tournament to honour his fastball legacy.
What better weekend than Father’s Day weekend to do just that.
This isn’t your typical recreational tournament. These teams have been going head to head for the past 5 years, all taking home the title and organizer Kyle Blanleil promises some fierce competition as the Fleetwood Marlins attempt to defend as champions.
“Since you can’t be on the lake this weekend, you may as well be in the ballpark instead," said Blanleil. "All the teams are great and you can expect some good and competitive games."
Games will be held throughout Saturday morning and afternoon with finals taking place on Sunday at noon.
