Kelowna's Largest Outdoor Yoga class returns for its 11th year

It’s time to break out those yoga mats, because the 11th annual Largest Yoga Class is back! This hour and a half class is hosted by Oranj Fitness at Stuart Park, this wonderful event is raising money for the charitable initiative that the fitness studio started, Mats for Metta.

On July 21, 2019 at 8:30 am, join the community in finding clarity, together.

Starting and developing this charity is really important to the crew at Oranj Fitness, because they want to make sure ‘everyone has access to yoga’.

Owner of Oranj Fitness, Tina Joslin, says '[yoga’s] been proven to change mindsets, help with mental health and clarity and when you can take a few minutes on the mat everyday or an hour if it is accessible'

They found a change in peoples’ outlooks whether it's life, a day or an attitude or how they treat others.

The organization’s goal is to introduce the yoga practice into children's lives, especially those who have high energy or are bullying each other, and 'bringing them into a yoga class environment where they are all equal and it’s kinda refreshing. It’s been really powerful in schools.'

Joslin truly believes that yoga is 'proven to change mindset' and 'we want everyone to have that.'

All proceeds raised from the yoga class will support Mats for Metta to buy yoga mats and yoga props for schools and to pay for the yoga instructors’ fees to teach yoga programs. Since starting their organization, Oranj Fitness has proudly donated over $64,000 into the local community, such as Boy and Girls Club of the Okanagan, JoeAnna's House, CMHA Kelowna and Foundry Kelowna.

The yoga class is designed for all levels and people of all ages, including children! If you have a child who loves to practice yoga with you, they are more than welcome to join the movement.

If not, but you would like to participate, Oranj Fitness will have their childminding team on site to play and look after your little ones – no need to sign up!

All the instructors will be set up on a stage at the front of the park, leading every pose.

There will be music from Brightside DJs, booths and a little gift from Oranj Fitness for supporting their meaningful cause.

This event is by donation and they 'really want it to be an all-inclusive day.'

If you are passionate about yoga, our community or both, make sure you clear your calendar on July 21, 2019 at Stuart Park.

Show up at Stuart Park at 8:30 am, so you're ready for the 9 am start and to take the time to check out the community partner booths. Join the movement and BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat)!
