Rutland gets ready to sparkle at annual URBA Light Up

Rutland is preparing to hop on the sparkle train as the Uptown Rutland Business Association is set to host their annual light up on Dec. 9.

Free and family-friendly, the event is all about getting into the spirit of the holidays with caroling, warm drinks and twinkling lights.

The main festivities will take place in Roxby Square, as per tradition, starting promptly at 4 p.m., but will also sprawl throughout various community businesses including Plaza 33 and Willow Park Shopping Centre as early as 3 p.m.

At the square attendees can look forward to the caroling with the RSS choir, hot chocolate and chili, street hockey with the Kelowna Chiefs, meeting the man in red and a kids activity zone.

The light up is slotted for 4:30 p.m. following a procession of colourfully illuminated sponsor vehicles trailing behind the First Canada Santa Transit, making the magic moment that much brighter.

Little ones can get excited to write their wish list for Santa Claus, join in on an interactive reading of Twas The Night Before Christmas, decorate cookies and make crafts at Plaza 33 after the lights start to twinkle.
