BC Conservation officers about to step up boating patrols in the Okanagan

If you’re planning on doing any boating or fishing this summer, make sure you’re following the rules.

The BC Conservation Service says they have plans to ramp up patrols for boating safety in the Okanagan region as the hotter summer months are upon us.

They’ll be looking to make sure that people have the proper licences and equipment, so they’re warning people ahead of time to familiarize themselves with the regulations.

Not following the rules can lead to some heft consequences.

Back in May, officers issued several tickets and seized multiple water user’s fishing gear and catches.

Some of the violations included angling with more than one fishing line, possessing live fish, multiple prohibited gear violations and small vessel regulation infractions.
