Students across the Okanagan are the recipients of more than 420 bursaries, scholarships and awards handed out by the Okanagan College Foundation.
Over the past two weeks, more than $450,000 was distributed by the foundation.
During the ceremonies last month, students had a chance to meet the donors at the Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton campuses.
Each event included an Indigenous welcome, student and donor speakers and time for guests, students and donors to connect and network.
“These awards have a profound impact on students’ lives, many of whom live on limited budgets,” says Helen Jackman, executive director of Okanagan College Foundation.
“The money they receive can be put towards educational expenses and household costs, including groceries and food, relieving pressures and allowing them to focus more on their learning.”
In a news release, the foundation says it disburses over a million dollars in awards to help out students attending any of the three campuses across the Okanagan Valley.
