A new gaming facility has opened in Richmond that locks participants in a room which they must escape.
EXIT is the first real-life room escape game on the West Coast and throws players into a world of intrigue, puzzles and codes. It is just like a video simulation; expect it’s the real deal and an actual room. Participants must escape by working together with teammates and are against an ever-ticking clock.
There are four themed rooms: The Lost Ship, Prison Escape, Ancient Egypt and Laboratory Escape. Groups from two to six people have 45 minutes to solve riddles and use critical thinking to make it out of the facility. The owner of EXIT says he was inspired by the idea several years ago after seeing videos of the “escape room” in Japan, the U.S., Taiwan and Switzerland.
Around 7,000 customers have already tried out EXIT since the doors opened in October. The cost per game is $22.99 per person plus GST and it is recommended for ages 16 and older.
