Photos from the wildfire raging near Banff, Alberta are both stunning and scary. Photos posted on Facebook by Amanda Nand capture the beauty of the landscape and sky being covered by smoke from the fire. It makes local fires near the Okanagan look tiny in comparison, but just as terrifying.

The Banff Fire is just one of 13 currently burning in that province. So far this year more than 14,000 hectares of land has been burnt and at least three fires remain out of control.

Fires burning in the North West Territories over the past 14 days have kept firefighters working around the clock. The largest being the Birch Creek fire which is approximately 100,000 hectares in size.

And the fires burning around BC are causing problems not only for firefighters but for those battling the blazes as well. The fire southwest of Hudson’s Hope is now over 10,000 hectares in size and has forced the evacuation of nearby residents.
