A 20 year old Vancouver man wanted for manslaughter was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Seattle when he arrived from a flight.
Samir Mokhtar was arrested Wednesday aboard an Air Emirates flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He was taken into custody after a name check on the National Crime Information Centre database turned up an active warrant for the Vancouver man.
“CBP officers at Sea-Tac International Airport are continuously on alert, monitoring the arrival of any persons that may be fugitives from justice,” said Area Port Director Mark Wilkerson. “Our endeavors, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, is a major role in helping to keep communities safe.”
Mokhtar was held overnight in the Northwest Detention Center before being transported to Blaine, Washington and turned over to Canadian authorities the following day.
Mokhtar was wanted in connection to the homicide of 20 year old Aladdin Ramadan. On October 8, 2014 charges of “Manslaughter with a Firearm” and “Accessory After the Fact to Murder” were laid against Mokhtar. He fled Canada shortly after the homicide and a Canada wide warrant issued.
Mokhtar's next Court appearance will be in Vancouver on January 12, 2014. Ramadan was killed on September 20th, 2014 in Burnaby after being shot several times.
