Identities of Downed Vancouver Pilots Released

The pilots who died when the cargo plane they were flying went down in the Vancouver North Shore Mountains have been identified.

Killed in the crash were Robert Brandt, aged 34, and Kevin Wang, aged 32, both residents of the Vancouver area. Brandt was the pilot of the twin-engine Swearingen SA-226 plane, while Wang was the co-pilot. The two were flying from Vancouver International Airport to Prince George for Carson Air when it was reported missing shortly after 7:00 a.m. on April 13^th.

Following a massive search the downed craft was found in the North Shore mountains. Both men were deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service would like to express thanks to North Shore Search and Rescue, North Vancouver RCMP detachment and the RCMP's Emergency Response Team for their assistance in this difficult search and recovery.

Kelowna based Carson Air has released a brief statement regarding the crash of Flight 66:

“The Management and Staff of Carson Air are grieving with the families on the loss of two of our coworkers. At the request of the families, the crew’s names are not being released. Both men are professional commercial pilots, and well respected by their colleagues. We are working with all agencies involved to determine the cause of this tragedy. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of our flight crew. Our focus is on helping the families and our staff through this exceedingly difficult event. In this time of tremendous grief, we ask that the privacy of the families be respected.”
