For a local Vernon competitor, this Masterchef Canada challenge simply wasn’t her cup of tea.
Vernon’s Jennifer Innis was eliminated and sent home on Sunday evening’s episode of MasterChef Canada after she stumbled through a team challenge with partner David Jorge of Surrey. The two were tasked with creating English tea-time pastries and unfortunately fell short, despite getting off to a strong start.

The remaining seven cooks in Sunday night’s episode were asked to complete a Mystery Box Challenge alongside special guest chef, judge Claudio Aprile.
After winning the Mystery Box Challenge, Sabrina Poirier was given the advantage of pairing up the remaining cooks for a traditional English three-tier tea tray replication challenge.

Despite their delicious pastry cream, the B.C. team could not avoid facing elimination, and at the end of the day, it was empty and incomplete profiteroles that sent Innis and Jorge to the bottom two.
Innis, who has garnered a reputation for her baking in the MasterChef kitchen, was sent home Sunday evening.
Last week’s episode also saw Innis in the bottom two, as the judges felt her dish lacked an adequate seafood presence. Innis was up against contestant Tammy Wood. It was a close call, but Wood was sent home from the MasterChef kitchen on Sunday, April 19th.
Considering Innis’ elimination, there are now six home cooks left competing for the $100,000 prize and the title of Canada’s next MasterChef.
The next episode of MasterChef will air on Sunday, May 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
