On August 14th, FortisBC began providing temporary power to residents of Beaverdell, Carmi, and Christian Valley because the main line had been damaged by the wildfire. However, this system is only temporary and customers are being reminded that the system will be more reliable if electricity use is limited.
Specifically, FortisBC asks that power be mostly limited to essentials needed for health and food safety, such as food storage and water handling in the home. The company requests that customers avoid using items with high-electricity demands, or at least use them sparingly.

Crews are rebuilding the main line between Rock Creek and Westbridge, and FortisBC says that this work is being done “as quickly and safely as possible”. The temporary service with the generators will give service to the area until the restoration work is complete, which is estimated to be by August 31st. The company thanks members of the Beaverdell Fire Department who are helping to monitor the unit.
If you have questions or concerns, you can contact FortisBC at 1-866-436-7847 or go to FortisBC’s website for service updates.
