According to Fire Information Officer Mike McCulley, new resources are continually being deployed in the fight to contain the Rock Creek Fire.

Currently there are 145 firefighters on the scene, and aircraft, including air tankers, are still actively being used.

The fire has increased its range over the past few days, but it is not currently threatening any structures.

“Winds out of the northwest have caused a bit of growth on the southeast side of the fire," said McCulley.

"The weather’s going to be warmer again [today] and the humidity is going to drop down, but fortunately for fire activity we did have a fair bit of dew this morning which allows us a little bit of recovery, and we’re not expecting the big winds that we’ve seen over the last few days.”

The Rock Creek Fire is still approximately 4500 hectares and is 50 per cent contained. Highway 33 reopened Friday evening at 6 p.m. as scheduled, to the relief of local residents. According to Officer McCulley, FortisBC has also been able to restore power partway up the highway.
