Nearly 900 people are in the dark just east of Sicamous because of a vehicle accident along the highway.
According to reports, several semi-trucks have slid off the road knocking out power lines in the process. There are no reports of any injuries, but residents and businesses from north east of Highway 97A to the south west part of the Tran-Canada are in the dark. The community of Malakwa is also in the dark as a result of the accidents.
It is unknown how long customers will be left in the dark, but crews will be assessing the situation as soon as possible. DriveBC is not reporting any closures as a result of the accidents, but traffic in the area is backed up according to residents. Road conditions are treacherous and motorists are advised to use caution.
