The man who witnessed a simple gesture of kindness on a Vancouver skytrain is calling it “the most incredible display of humanity.”
Ehab Taha of Vancouver was riding the skytrain on February 2nd, when a man on board started becoming very aggressive.
In a post he shared on Facebook, Taha said the six foot five man appeared to be suffering from drug abuse or mental health issues. He was making erratic movements, cursing and shouting.
Taha said while most people around him looked scared, one elderly woman did something unexpected.
“This one seventy year old woman reached out her hand, tightly gripping his hand until he calmed down and sat down silently,” said Taha in his Facebook post.
“Eventually, tears came to his eyes.”

Taha said he spoke to the woman after about the incident. The woman told Taha she was a mother and that man needed someone to touch. She then started to cry.
“Don’t fear or judge the stranger on the bus: life does not provide equal welfare for all its residents,” said Taha.
The moment was captured in a photo by Taha, and has since been shared by thousands of people.
