A roller coaster that zips through tunnels, has a vertical drop of 915 feet and gives riders amazing mountain views is getting set to open in B.C.
Those are just some of the elements of the Pipe Mountain Coaster, the latest attraction opening at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
The coaster is set to open on May 21, 2016 and resort staff are promising thrill seekers will be in for a treat.
Revelstoke Mountain Resort has created North America’s first Brandauer Mountain Coaster, a gravity driven ride with a bobsled like car that runs on tracks installed on the mountain.
The Pipe Mountain Coaster begins on Revelstoke Mountain and allows riders to control their speed as they travel. The coaster features 1.4 kilometres of twists and turns, including a section that travels through a tunnels. The beauty of the mountain can be seen as the ride takes thrill seekers through the trees and along ski runs, with top speeds of 42 kilometres per hour. Catering to families, the coaster allows each person to control their speed. Whether you are looking to get to top speeds, or just want to enjoy a leisurely ride through the trees, each Pipe Mountain Coaster goer can enjoy the adventure their own way.
Construction of the coaster began in the fall of 2015. The Coaster will open to the public on May 21 and will be open throughout the summer season.
