Amazon driver accused of stealing packages in BC and selling them on Facebook

An Amazon delivery driver has been arrested for allegedly stealing dozens of packages and selling them on Facebook Marketplace.

Burnaby Mounties said they were informed by Amazon that one of their employees had failed to deliver items and was instead posting them for sale online.

In September, Amazon told officers there had been 32 instances of customers not receiving their items despite the driver marking the packages as delivered.

After an investigation, police discovered that some of the items were still for sale on Facebook.

The driver’s home was later searched and the individual – who has not been named – was arrested on suspicion of committing 32 counts of theft.

Mounties said the approximate value of the stolen items was $2,000.

Images released by police show that among the items were various electronics and printer ink capsules.

Burnaby RCMP said charges are pending against a 28-year-old from Vancouver.
