A man in his 70s was killed yesterday morning after a tragic accident at Cypress Creek Canyon in West Vancouver.
According to police, emergency responders were called at 11:35 am yesterday after receiving a report that a man had fallen into the canyon at Eagle Lake Access Road and Cypress Bowl Road.
The hiker, a male in his 70s, was with a large group when he fell about 200 feet into the canyon.
Police confirmed that fire and rescue services were able to recover his body.
Out of respect for the privacy of the man’s family, the West Vancouver Police say they will not be releasing the man’s name.
“A life was lost today. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the individual.” says Cst. Nicole Braithwaite.
“Our Victim Services Team is working to assist the individuals who witnessed the incident, the family of the deceased male, as well as the members who attended.”
