BC woman arrested after spitting on business owner while claiming she had COVID-19

A woman on the island was arrested recently after violating provincial health protocol.

According to Campbell River RCMP, on Nov. 25 at approximately 8:30 am, officers travelled to the 1300 block of Cedar Street after hearing reports of an altercation between a business owner and a group of people who set up camp near the front of the store.

After the owner tried to hurry the individuals along so she could open her store, a woman in the group became aggressive. She then allegedly spat in the face of the business owner, as well as on the door of the store, claiming she had COVID-19.

Police were able to apprehend and arrest the 37-year-old closeby.

She was released on protective conditions for a court date in January with possible charges of assault and mischief.
