For International Women’s Day, the BC Ale Trail is highlighting a number of activities that celebrate women in the craft beer scene – a typically male-dominated industry.
“It is inspiring to see more and more women entering the craft beer industry. The growth of BC’s craft beer community has opened up so many careers for women, including brewers, sales, marketing, HR and distribution, and has inspired more women to become a Certified Cicerone®,“ says Monica Frost, Project Lead for BC Ale Trail.
“We encourage everyone to celebrate women with their favourite craft beer this March 8th and to check out these brews, hops and events.”
Firstly, Kelowna’s Rustic Reel Brewing’s is holding the Reel Day Retreat. The all women, all-day event features inspirational speakers, activities, food and beer.
Barkerville Brewing, an all-female brewery, is releasing their new PMS Beer. Aunt Florence is a craft beer created to alleviate negative premenstrual symptoms using herbs that can reduce inflammation, cramping, and bloating, and will improve circulation and relieve stress.
Proceeds from the beer will be donated to this year’s charity of choice, Ovarian Cancer Research.
Vancouver’s Callister Brewing’s Women's Brew Day is a day tailored to female homebrewers and brewing professionals to share knowledge and just hang out with like-minded/brewing enthusiasts, located in the heart of Yeast Van.
The Pink Boots Society has partnered with Yakima Hops Co to make an exclusive Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day hops blend available for brewers to purchase with proceeds going towards educational sponsorship and programming for Pink Boots members.
The Pink Boots Society was originally developed in alignment with International Women’s Day to celebrate women’s achievements in the beer industry.
The society assists women in the beer industry to advance their careers through education.
