The Fraser Health Authority has confirmed that a resident of Maple Hill in Langley has tested positive for COVID-19.
Maple Hill is a long-term care facility which, along with three other long-term care facilities, is on the same site as the Langley Memorial Hospital.
According to a release, enhanced control measures have been put in place, which includes deploying more than 480 people to the care home.
That includes the Fraser Health’s SWAT teams that are made up of clinical nurse educators, infection prevention and control experts, screeners, patient care quality officers and more.
While the infected individual is in self-isolation at the facility, Fraser Health is working with staff to try and identify anyone who may have been exposed.
Steps are being taken to protect the health of all staff, residents and families, which includes:
“During this time, Fraser Health has additional presence at the site to take any further actions required and support the facility,” says a release from Fraser Health.
“This includes dedicated people to address quality, answer questions from staff, residents and family, and provide active checks of symptoms with staff and residents.”
The four long-term care facilities on the Langley Memorial Hospital site have a combined 220 beds.
