A man alleged to have verbally assaulted staff at a Tim Hortons in Surrey earlier this year has been charged.
Police revealed today that 31-year-old Omar Christian Maybaum was charged with assault and causing a disturbance on May 3 in connection to the incident that happened three months earlier.
On May 24, he was arrested and released on conditions while he awaits his first court appearance.
Those conditions include not having any direct or indirect contact with the victim, not visiting that Tim Hortons location and not possessing any weapons.
The infamous incident from Feb. 5, 2023, was captured on video by someone waiting behind in line at the drive-thru and it went viral after being shared to social media.

While it doesn’t show much visually, the man police have since identified as Maybaum is heard loud and clear during the minute-long video shared on TikTok.
“Extra large, dark roast, double double espresso. Figure it the f*** out,” the man in the video screams at the employees inside the Tim Hortons.
“Shut the f*** up. Get me my coffee. Get me my coffee. Why the f*** are you here arguing with me? It’s super simple. Coffee in hand, I need…How many times do I have to f***ing tell you. Seven f***ing times. Extra large, dark roast, double double, you give me my coffee, I f***ing leave, that’s how it goes.”
He eventually gets his coffee and the video cuts out as he begins to pull away, but resumes again because another man tries to prevent Maybaum from exiting the drive-thru.
The second part of the video shows Maybaum leaving his vehicle before returning to the driver’s seat a few seconds later. He then mounts a curb to drive around the other man and vacate the premises.
Maybaum was identified by police two days after the incident and the RCMP submitted a report to the BC Prosecution Service recommending charges against him.
